The parliamentarian advises the president and other officers, executive board members, and members of

the PTA on matters of parliamentary procedure. The parliamentarian serves as a consultant, especially in

a meeting, where only the chair has the authority to rule on questions of order or to answer parliamentary

inquiries.

All members of the PTA, whether in a leadership position or not, should understand the fundamental rules

of parliamentary procedure in order to preserve their rights and to know whether the procedures are being

followed for the benefit of all members. This knowledge will ensure order, expedite business and guarantee

that the association continues to promote the Vision, Mission and Purposes of PTA.
